President Signs EO for Efficient, Effective, and Accountable Government

On June 13th, President Obama issued Executive Order 13576 entitled, “Delivering an Efficient, Effective, and Accountable Government.”  This EO is aimed at:  cutting waste; streamlining government operations; increasing accountability; accelerating innovation; and reinforcing the performance and management reform of this Administration.  This EO builds on a September 14th Presidential memo that introduced goals for a new Accountable Government Initiative that holds Federal departments and agencies accountable for obtaining results. This effort calls for each department and agency to periodically meet with and report to the Office of Management and Budget on progress made toward meeting their goals; facilitating reforms that require cross-agency coordination and cooperation; and frequently analyzing progress and updating robust performance metrics on a quarterly basis.
