Comments Requested on ICR for DBP, Chemical, and Radionuclides

EPA has forwarded an Information Collection Request (ICR) to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval. EPA may not request data unless it has an ICR approved by OMB.  This is a request to renew an existing approved collection that covers a variety of rules, including: Stage 1 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule (Stage 1 DBPR), Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule (Stage 2 DBPR), Chemical Phase Rules (Phases II/IIB/V), 1976 Radionuclides Rule and 2000 Radionuclides Rule, Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) Rule, Disinfectant Residual Monitoring and Associated Activities under the Surface Water Treatment Rule, Arsenic Rule, and Lead and Copper Rule (LCR). Future chemical-related rulemakings will be added to this consolidated ICR after the regulations are finalized and the initial, rule-specific, ICRs are due to expire.

The burden estimated for these rules means the total time, effort, or financial resources expended by persons to generate, maintain, retain, or disclose or provide information to or for a Federal agency. The ICR covers both the burden of reporting by the regulated water systems as well as the reporting by primacy agencies.  Comments on the ICR are due to OMB by January 6, 2012.  Additional background material on the ICR is available in the Docket at http://www.regulations.gov by using EPA-HQ-OW-2011-0439 as the key word search.  Comments can also be submitted electronically at this site.
