WaterISAC Joins DHS Cyber Unified Coordination Group

The WaterISAC has been accepted into the Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber Unified Coordination Group (UCG), an interagency and inter-organizational body composed of public and private sector officials responsible for coordinating responses to cyber security incidents impacting critical infrastructure.

The Cyber UCG works to ensure that the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC) — a Federal 24/7 cyber security monitoring, analysis, and response center — effectively coordinates with its federal, state, local, and private sector partners on a regular basis and during incidents.

WaterISAC staff will deploy to the NCCIC, as necessary, during cyber incidents to enhance threat awareness and multi-directional information sharing in the water sector. The Cyber UCG includes staff from many critical infrastructure sectors’ ISACs as well as representatives of sector coordinating bodies like the Water Sector Coordinating Council.
