SORA Releases Onsite Wastewater Nutrient Regulations Survey Results

The State Onsite Regulators Alliance (SORA) and the National Environmental Services Center (NESC) have published the results of a 50 state survey on Onsite Wastewater Nutrient Regulations. The survey was conducted to determine how various states are addressing the amount of nitrogen and phosphorus released from onsite wastewater systems around the country.

Among other findings, the survey revealed that half the states have existing rules for nitrogen reduction, while fewer address phosphorus. The survey results, available at www.nesc.wvu.edu/sora/forms/SORANutrientSurvey.pdf, provide summary information, as well as more specific information about state and local regulations and links to state policies.  For more information, visit the NESC web site at:  www.nesc.wvu.edu.
