WQA Launches Eco-labeling Initiative

One of ASDWA’s partner organizations, the Water Quality Association (WQA) has just launched a Sustainability Certification Program (Eco-labeling) for products that contact or treat drinking water.  The program includes development of a series of standards to codify principles of sustainability and corporate responsibility into a certification framework for manufacturers, retailers and consumers in order to substantiate the environmental claims being made across the industry.  The goal is to provide guidance to, and drive improvement among companies interested in pursuing a more sustainable approach to their operations and products.  Pilot testing of the new standards is nearing completion and WQA anticipates issuing the standards and launching this program in April, 2013 for some standards, with others to follow within a few months therafter.  Please see the attached Q&A documents for more details about this new program.
