EPA Personnel Updates

Staff to Suffer Fewer Furlough Days:  As of Wednesday, EPA was expected to reduce the number of mandatory furlough days for staff.  The new target is 55 hours through the rest of this fiscal year that ends on September 30.  This represents about a 30% reduction from the original 79 hours of furlough time.   Furloughs have been ordered across the Agency as a mechanism to meet decreased funding allocations from the sequester.

Lisa Jackson Moves to Apple:   Former EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson has taken a position with Apple.  Jackson is set to become the head of the corporation’s environmental program.  In announcing Jackson’s hiring, Apple CEO Tim Cook explained that Jackson would work to coordinate Apple’s ongoing environmental efforts across the company and would be “looking for ways to take what we’re doing to even another level.”
