EPA Approves New Analytical Methods

EPA has just published 84 newly approved analytical methods and method modifications for drinking water through their expedited method approval process.  Approval of these methods was announced in a Federal Register Notice on May 31, 2013 and the newly approved methods are now included in EPA’s online listing of approved methods.

The newly approved batch includes EPA method 524.4 — an extension of an existing EPA method for purgeable organic compounds (VOCs and TTHM), 79 updated Standard Methods in the 22nd edition, three updated ASTM International methods (mostly editorial changes), and a vendor-developed coliphage method.  The new EPA Method 524.4 is also available electronically from EPA for download or printing.
