Federal Program Inventory Now Online

For the first time, 24 Federal agencies have compiled a comprehensive inventory of their programs that offer a description of the program and how it relates to the Agency’s or Department’s mission.  For example, EPA includes information on 121 programs and designed its approach “…to closely mirror its budget structure which aligns to the way the agency manages and reports environmental progress against annual and long-term performance goals outlined under EPA’s Strategic Architecture.”

The wide-ranging inventory effort is part of the larger Government Performance and Results Modernization Act (GPRA) implementation initiative.  Under that Act, Congress called for comprehensive program listings in an effort to identify, merge, or remove duplicative programs.  To take a look at the complete inventory, go to:  http://www.goals.performance.gov/federalprograminventory.
