Draft Environmental Justice Framework Available for State Comment

The following article is reprinted from the Environmental Council of the States’ newsletter, ECOSWIRE.
This week, U.S. EPA shared the draft framework for their Environmental Justice 2020 Action Agenda (EJ 2020) with states.  EJ2020 will be EPA’s next Agency-wide environmental justice strategic plan. It builds on Plan EJ 2014 to continue to make visible differences in environmentally overburdened, underserved and economically distressed communities. EPA plans to seek input on this draft framework through a robust stakeholder engagement process and they are particularly interested in engaging with and hearing from the states.
This draft framework will be provided to the broader public and stakeholder communities on April 15, 2015. Once out for comment, EPA will be holding a number of informational and dialogue sessions on EJ 2020. More information about those opportunities will be available soon.  EPA will be accepting comments and recommendations on the draft framework until June 15, 2015.  If you have questions or comments, contact Mark Rupp (rupp.mark@epa.gov or 202-564-6074) or Charles Lee, (lee.charles@epa.gov or (202) 564-2597).
