Bureau of Reclamation Announces Drought Response Funding Opportunity

The U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation has announced two new grant opportunities as part of its new Drought Response Program to improve the ability to assist states, tribes, and local governments to prepare for and address drought in advance of a crisis. The Drought Response Program is funded under the US Department of the Interior’s WaterSMART (Sustain and Manage America’s Resources for Tomorrow) Initiative.  The deadline for FY’ 15 grant applications is June 25, 2015.

  • Drought Resiliency Project Grants: This grant opportunity supports Drought Resiliency Projects that will build long-term resiliency to drought and reduce the need for emergency response actions in states, tribes, irrigation districts, water districts, or other organizations with water or power delivery authority located in the western US or US territories.
  • Drought Contingency Planning Grants: This grant opportunity supports the development and update of Drought Contingency Plans that will build long-term resiliency to drought and climate change in states, tribes, irrigation districts, water districts, or other organizations with water or power delivery authority located in the Bureau of Reclamation states or Hawaii.
