Job Opportunity at MassDEP – Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Water Resources

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) is seeking qualified applicants for a management position in the Bureau of Water Resources, located at MassDEP’s Boston Office. The salary range, depending on experience and qualifications, is $44,590 – $119,145 yearly.

The Deputy Assistant Commissioner is the senior manager responsible for overseeing the following bureau-wide functions:

  • A handful of select high-priority cross-cutting program initiatives;
  • Constituent correspondence & inquiry responses, and review of proposed legislation;
  • Administrative processes for regulations;
  • Grant administration and financial management (more than $7m annually);
  • Information management, web content/social media, and operations (hardware/software and equipment needs, records management, etc.); and
  • Limited personnel and hiring functions.

The Deputy will have work closely with the bureau’s senior leadership team, and will have functional supervision over some activities performed by staff across the 100-person bureau, as well as directly supervise a unit of five.
