New RFP for Public Water Systems’ Fluoridation Equipment

The following announcement from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) may provide a source of funding for communities that need to install or upgrade their fluoridation equipment.  Please circulate this information as appropriate.  Also, one part of the application process is the inclusion of a letter of support from the state drinking water agency, so states may be asked to endorse specific projects.
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is pleased to offer a funding opportunity for Public Water Systems (PWSs) to either replace aging water fluoridation equipment or implement new equipment for the fluoridation of community water. Those eligible include:

  • State or Local Government Entities;
  • Oral Health Coalitions;
  • Rural Water Associations;
  • State Affiliates of Rural Water Associations;
  • State Dental Organizations; and
  • Other organizations affiliated with public community water systems.

Funding awards will solely be for equipment purchase. With the awarded funding, Public Water Systems (PWSs) will receive technical assistance for equipment recommendations, coordination with other entities, and other areas as needed.  Applications are due March 1, 2017 at 11:59pm EST. An informational conference call will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 1:00pm EST to learn more about the Request for Funding Proposal (RFP) and to have a chance to ask NACCHO and CDC questions regarding the application. The conference call line information is included in the RFP.
