USGS Holds NAWQA National Liaison Meeting

On Friday, April 13th, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) held a National Liaison Meeting for the National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) program.  This meeting provided an opportunity for several national water organizations (including ASDWA) to keep apprised of the latest developments in this multi-year, multi-watershed program.  The meeting provided an overview of how USGS is going to manage and analyze the larger datasets developed in this program.  The first presentation provided background on the interactive data mapper that can be used to assess long-term trends in water quality.  A second presentation detailed their efforts to better understand increasing chloride and sulfate levels in rivers and streams from the use of road salt, and potential corrosion impacts from these increased levels.
More information on the NAWQA program can be found on the USGS website.
