WASH Webinar Includes Information on Legionella

The most recent CDC Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) webinar included a couple of presentations related to Legionella and its public health impact.   One covered the increase in Legionnaires disease cases nationally, especially those in health facilities.  Reporting systems are in place to collect information about the diseases and outbreaks associated with Legionella.   CDC has a toolkit to help facilities address the potential risks from Legionella.  A second presentation featured the Legionnaires disease outbreak in New York City that was connected to a cooling tower.  The response was extensive and ultimately resulted in the first cooling tower regulation in the country.
