Raleigh Paper Refutes Claims in EWG Report

A recent editorial in the Raleigh News-Observer refuted many of the claims in the latest drinking water database and report from the Environmental Working Group (EWG).  The editorial clearly states that the water is safe.  The editorial board takes EWG to task for comparing drinking water testing results to California health-based goals to determine if the water is “safe”, as opposed to using the actual drinking water standard as the benchmark.  The editorial also mentions that EWG gets a portion of the revenues from the sales of water filters that are prominently displayed on EWG’s website as one action that a consumer could potentially take if they are concerned about the safety of their drinking water.
