Hurricane Harvey Response & Irma Preparations

Off

Hurricane Harvey impacted many water and wastewater systems along the Gulf Coast, and the Texas Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (TXWARN) has played a key role in the response and recovery for Texas. TXWARN is a state-level response network that is part of the larger North American network of utilities helping other utilities respond to and recover from emergencies.  An update on the TXWARN response to Hurricane Harvey can be found on AWWA’s Emergency Preparedness website. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality continues to update its hurricane website with the current operational status of water and wastewater systems, as well as other potential environmental impacts from Harvey.
Meanwhile, Florida is getting prepared for Irma.  The website for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is providing updated information on local preparedness efforts ahead of Irma’s anticipated arrival over the weekend.
