Just in Case You Wondered…

In May, the Administration requested that Congress consider and pass a measure to rescind $15 billion in unspent Federal funds and return those monies to the US Treasury.  The House modified the request, retaining certain provisions and removing others, and passed it in early June.  The Senate had until June 22 to support, amend, or deny the funding proposal.  They chose to deny it by not allowing it to come to the Floor for a vote.  This means that there will be no rescissions, other than those included in Federal FY 19 appropriations legislation, this year.  The Administration has no plan, as of this writing, to resubmit a request to Congress.  For EPA, this means that $10 million in proposed rescissions for competitive water quality research and support grants will not occur.
