ASDWA Co-Signs Letter Requesting Extension of Public Comment Period on Proposed Rule for Consistency and Transparency in Considering Costs and Benefits

Earlier this week (6/26), ASDWA co-signed a letter with six other state environmental associations, the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), and the National Governors Association (NGA), asking for a 90-day extension to the 30-day comment period for EPA’s Proposed Rule for Consistency and Transparency in Considering Costs and Benefits. This request would move the close of the public comment period from July 13th to October 11th. The extension letter also requested that at least three public hearings be conducted to gather additional public input on the proposal. ASDWA previously reported (6/8) on the pre-publication version of this proposal and, if finalized, on some of the potential implications to the SDWA regulations due to the relatively specific SDWA statutory language for the consideration of costs and benefits in the regulatory development process.
