White House Releases Executive Order on Cybersecurity Workforce

Last week the White House released an Executive Order on America’s Cybersecurity Workforce, which aims to strengthen the Nation’s cybersecurity workforce. This order calls for government support to improve cybersecurity workforce by enhancing mobility between the public and private sectors and encouraging the education and development of cybersecurity skills. The order instructs the Secretaries of Defense, Transportation, Energy, and Homeland Security to consult with the Director of the Office of Personnel Management and the Secretary of Labor to develop a report on the state of cybersecurity in critical infrastructure sectors within 180 days. The report shall identify cybersecurity skill and training gaps, and recommendations to close these gaps, in both Federal and non-Federal cybersecurity personnel and in critical infrastructure sectors, defense critical infrastructure, and the Department of Defense’s platform information technologies.
