EPA Sends Lead and Copper Rule to Office of Management and Budget

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has sent its much-anticipated revisions to the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) to the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for interagency review. EPA appears to be on track to release the draft new rule this summer, but OMB’s review could take several months.

In preparation for the long-term LCR revisions, ASDWA completed a study last year on the potential resource impacts to state drinking water programs. ASDWA also developed extensive comments on potential LCR revisions and submitted them to EPA during their Federalism Consultation.
