Congressional Briefing on Safe Water Access Hosted by US Water Alliance

This week, the U.S. Water Alliance hosted a Congressional briefing on their recent report, Closing the Water Access Gap in the United States, released last month in conjunction with Dig Deep, a non profit focused on water access. The report presents an analysis of the water and sanitation access challenge in the United States, using quantitative and qualitative research. The briefing highlighted opportunities for action by the water sector, government agencies, and Congress to provide the more than two million Americans that currently lack access to running water, indoor plumbing, or wastewater services with equitable water access in their lifetimes. Solutions identified in the report and the briefing include developing alternatives to traditional infrastructure, expanding and federal and state funding, creating funding options for household-level infrastructure, supporting smart system consolidations, and using data to bring visibility to communities.
