AWWA Publishes New Source Water Protection Brochure on Working with the Forest Service

AWWA has published a new six-page brochure entitled, “Protecting Drinking Water at the Source: Working with the USDA Forest Service.” The brochure provides an overview and suggests ways that utilities can partner with the Forest Service to protect drinking water. It shares information about forest-based activities and Forest Service programs that can provide benefits for drinking water utilities, along with examples of existing utility partnerships and opportunities to create funding for projects. These activities are part of the Forest Service Strategic Plan objective for delivering “abundant and clean water” benefits to the public and also include a new Forests to Faucets 2.0 interactive map viewer showing the importance of forested watersheds to drinking water sources. For more information, read the brochure here.
