ITRC Announces New Harmful Cyanobacteria Guidance and Training

The Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) has announced its new website entitled, “Strategies for Preventing and Managing Harmful Cyanobacterial Blooms (HCBs),” that provides guidance, management strategy sheets, and virtual training modules.

  • The guidance discusses key aspects of on harmful cyanobacterial blooms management for that waterbody managers and others interested parties should consider as they respond to these events.
  • The downloadable management strategy sheets provide descriptions of management strategies evaluated for effectiveness, advantages, limitations, relative cost, and regulatory and policy considerations.
  • The training modules will broadcast live internet-based sessions on the guidance. The first training session will be held on April 29, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:15 pm (eastern) and will provide an in-depth look into Strategies for Preventing and Managing HCBs.
