Water Sector Policy Leads Hold Water 101 Briefing
On Tuesday, February 18th, policy experts from across the water sector convened to provide a briefing to staff members across Capitol Hill on the state of water. The event introduced several water associations to staff members of the Senate and the House of Representatives and informed these staff members of the state of the water sector. Speakers provided an overview of the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act. A panel of speakers from the host organizations also highlighted funding, regulatory, affordability, staffing, and additional challenges that face the water sector.
The event, held in the Dirksen Senate Building, was co-hosted by the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC), the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF), and the WaterReuse Association.
