NDWAC Meeting December 7 & 8, 2017

In a Federal Register notice this week, EPA announced a meeting of the National Drinking Water Advisory Council (NDWAC) to be held on December 7&8, 2017 at EPA’s offices in Washington, DC.  The focus of the NDWAC discussion at the meeting will be developing recommendations for the EPA Administrator on Health Advisory Communications.  In response to heightened concern about emerging contaminant and the process for developing and releasing health advisories to address new contaminants, the NDWAC created a subgroup at their last meeting to look at the issues, specifically messaging and communication about the health advisories.
The meeting will be held at EPA’s East Building, Rooms 1117A & B, 1201 Constitution Avenue NW., Washington, DC 20460 on December 7 (9:30 – 4:00 EST) and December 8 (8:30 – 12:00 EST).  It is open to the public and a time for public comment is included in the agenda.  ASDWA staff will attend the meeting and provide an update on the discussion after the event.  The current representatives of state drinking water program’s on the NDWAC are Sarah Pillsbury (NH) and June Swallow (RI).
