New CDC Manuscript: Estimating Waterborne Infectious Disease Burden by Exposure Route

Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch recently released the following manuscript:  Estimating Waterborne Infectious Disease Burden by Exposure Route, United States, 2014 which builds on their earlier waterborne disease burden work. In 2014, of the more than 7 million cases of domestically acquired infection waterborne illnesses that occurred in the United States, 1.13 million illnesses were linked to drinking water. Estimating the disease burden helps CDC and other public health organizations direct prevention activities.
