July 25 EPA Webinar on Wildfire Impacts on Drinking Water

On July 25, 2023, from 2:00 – 3:30 pm (eastern time), EPA will hold a webinar on “Wildfire Impacts to Drinking Water,” as part of its Small Drinking Water Systems Webinar Series. The webinar will feature two presentations.

  1. Wildfire Implications for Drinking Water Systems: This presentation will discuss the results of several projects focusing on dissolved organic matter character and treatability, and disinfection byproduct formation and a new transdisciplinary project to increase water system resiliency to wildfire.
  2. Wildfires Can Increase Drinking Water Contamination: Nitrate, Arsenic, and Disinfection Byproducts: This presentation will discuss the regional importance of wildfire impacts on local drinking water contamination, that may be attributed to factors such as drinking water treatment and land use.
