Drinking Water Advisories Toolbox

This week, ASDWA hosted a webinar for states on the Drinking Water Advisory Communication Toolbox. Representatives from CDC, EPA, AWWA, ASTHO, NEHA, and ASDWA worked over the last couple years to develop this Toolbox as a resource for anyone that might need to issue an advisory. The Toolbox provides a protocol and practical guide for communicating with stakeholders and the public about water advisories that is based upon research and identified practices. The Toolbox focuses on water systems and addresses the spectrum of situations that generate drinking water advisories. Some of the key contributors to the Toolbox shared their expertise on the ASDWA webinar. A recording of the webinar is now available on the ASDWA website. The PowerPoint slides from the webinar and a link to the CDC site for downloading the Toolbox are also included on ASDWA’s web pages.

Please go to https://www.asdwa.org/Regulatory for all the Drinking Water Advisory Communication Toolbox information.

We hope states will take advantage of the Toolbox and recommend it to water systems. CDC would appreciate hearing from states or water systems that use the tools in the Toolbox. Comment and feedback about the toolbox should be sent to Catherine Hough at CHough@cdc.gov.
