This position serves as a designated senior Health Services Consultant specialist for the Office of Drinking Water (ODW) advising Executive Management on information resource issues involving multiple stakeholders – both internal and external.  S/he acts as the agency’s drinking water information system enterprise solution (Sentry database) technical expert to ensure Sentry supports the office’s programs now and into the future in accordance with both State and Federal rules. This position supports the ODW mission – protecting the health of the people of Washington State by ensuring safe and reliable drinking water.

Water Quality and Data Management Section Manager:

  • Actively participating in strategic discussions about meeting Washington State’s drinking water quality and data management needs into the future.
  • Interacting with and coordinating with almost every part of the ODW as well as other state and national agencies to address drinking water quality needs.
  • Consulting with and making recommendations to ODW senior managers on water quality and data management strategy issues, prioritization, resource needs, and program implementation.

Reporting to the Deputy Director for Central Services Operations, the Water Quality and Data Section Manager sets priorities and oversees staff responsible for all aspects of the office’s water quality programs including establishing monitoring requirements, determining monitoring compliance, assessing potential contamination of public water supplies, and assisting systems in protecting their sources of supply.  S/he leads the data management efforts for ODW including the water facilities inventory program and data management, and data entry.  This position directly supervises a staff of six (6) and manages a section of ten (10) and is responsible for an annual budget of approximately $1.3 million.
