Two April 2015 Harmful Algal Bloom Meetings to be Held in Ohio

April 13-14 Workshop on HAB Science
The National Science Foundation and NOAA are sponsoring a two-day workshop on April 13-14, 2015 entitled, “Collecting Global Expertise to Address the Problem of Harmful Algal Blooms.”  The workshop will be held at the Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.  The goal of the workshop is to discuss the current science on the formation and factors contributing to Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs).  The workshop will include a series of introductory presentations from Federal agency representatives and scientists on specific topic areas, followed by roundtable discussions that will help guide the development of a workshop paper that presents potential future strategies for bloom prevention, mitigation and long-term research goals.  For more information and to register, go to:
April 28-30 Conference on Algal Toxins for Water Professionals

The Akron Global Water Alliance, the Netherlands Water Alliance and the City of Akron are organizing the U.S. Algal Toxin Conference on April 28-30, 2015 at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.  This conference will focus on algal toxin related issues facing Utility Managers, Engineers, Researchers, Consultants, Government Leaders and all Water Professionals involved in Water Treatment, Water Distribution and Watershed Management.  The conference will feature presentations and panel discussions with multiple tracks on assessing and addressing HABs with speakers from Ohio utilities, Federal agencies, and national organizations.  For more information and to register, visit the AGWA web site.
