USGS GeoHealth Newsletter Highlights Algal Toxins

A special edition of the GeoHealth Newsletter from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) highlights the work of USGS and various partners on harmful algal blooms and algal toxins.  This Environmental Health Newsletter provides an overview of algal toxin issues and convenient links to reports and research studies that go into greater detail.  This comprehensive look at algal toxins covers identification of cyanobacteria, the occurrence of blooms, the causes of blooms, and understanding risk.  On the Newsletter web page, states can review the existing issue on algal toxins and also sign up to receive future GeoHealth Newsletters covering this and other issues related to health and the environment.
