Senate Holds PFAS Hearing with EPA

Last week, the Environmental Protection Agency’s Assistant Administrator for the Office of Water, Radhika Fox, testified before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on the Agency’s actions to address PFAS. Ms. Fox provided Senators with details on the recently released EPA PFAS Roadmap. During the hearing, Ms. Fox stated EPA will continue to work closely with states during the implementation of the Roadmap. Several Senators, both Democrat and Republican, urged EPA to increase the speed of the actions listed in the Roadmap and Senator Capito (R-WV) asked Ms. Fox to prioritize drinking water regulations. Ms. Fox responded that EPA hopes to “beat” the statutory deadlines for setting a national primary drinking water regulation for PFOA and PFOS, as the Agency is on track to propose the regulation by this time next year.
