NOAA Report Projects Sea Level to Rise a Foot by 2050

On February 15, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released the “Sea Level Rise Technical Report,” in partnership with other federal agencies. The report projects sea levels along the coastline will likely rise 10-12 inches by 2050 and at least two feet by 2100. The projections are based on combined data and model ensembles from the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and supports the need for mitigation actions that will reduce emissions to lower future climate and flood risks.
