Governors Urge Congress To Address Water Infrastructure Funding Cuts

Off

On Thursday, September 14, the Co-Chairs of the National Governors Association’s (NGA’s) Economic Development and Revitalization Task Force, Governors Beshear of Kentucky and McMaster of South Carolina, sent a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to mitigate further funding cuts to water infrastructure projects. The letter focuses on the adverse impacts of Congressionally Directed Spending on the State Revolving Loan Funds (SRFs).

ASDWA has been working with its partners, such as NGA and the Council of Infrastructure Financing Authorities (CIFA), to educate members of Congress on the adverse impacts of taking funding from the SRFs for the CDS projects. The long-term financial health of the SRFs is at stake if the trends of using the SRF funding for CDS projects continues. CIFA has detailed the state-by-state impacts on its website.
