ITRC Releases Updated PFAS Technical and Regulatory Guidance Document and New Introductory Training

The Interstate Technology Regulatory Council (ITRC) PFAS Team has updated the PFAS-1 Technical and Regulatory Guidance Document and created a new PFAS Introductory Training Module.

  • The guidance document update includes more content across multiple sections including discussions on biosolids, recent claims of PFAS use and occurrence in products, AFFF replacement and clean-out, and PFAS inhalation toxicology. The document also includes discussions on new and updated case studies, stakeholder perspectives, and technical challenges in addressing PFAS, and additional references to relevant scientific literature. ITRC’s 13 fact sheets have also been updated to reflect the latest guidance document. The ITRC PFAS Team is continuing to review new research will develop additional content for future updates.
  • The new ITRC PFAS Introductory Training Module covers a broad overview of the topics included in the updated guidance document. It is intended to help individuals that are just beginning to learn about PFAS in the environment. The 90-minute training covers emerging science on PFAS, properties of PFAS, fate and transport, sampling and analysis, and treatment technologies.
