Website Launched for 40th Anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act
2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The Act was passed to protect public health by regulating the nation’s public drinking water supply. We have collectively made great progress over the past 40 years, but many challenges remain. To mark the 40th anniversary, EPA has launched a webpage that includes an overview of the Act, a timeline of milestones since 1974, resources for K-12 educators, and more. Peter Grevatt, Director of EPA’s Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, has also authored a blog on the anniversary.
